The Rhyan Family

Meet James, Rekisha, and Prenstyn.  They're a part of the GCA family and we're so thankful that they shared their experience with us!

How did you first hear about Grace Christian Academy?

We first heard of Grace Christian Academy from a family friend that attends Grace Baptist Chuch. Months later we heard of how great the school was from several neighbors within our Karns community.

What was the difference that made you choose GCA for your child?

After researching and visiting several private schools within the Knoxville area, Grace Christian Academy felt like home. The atmosphere was very welcoming from Ms. Tami’s personality to the smiles and love from the entire staff. We saw the foundation that Grace Christian Academy offered towards our child's education and they were some of the same principles we wanted instilled in his curriculum. We could tell that Prenstyn wasn't just going to be another number in the school, but that he was going to be a part of something much greater; we instantly became family.

What has been your favorite part of your child's experience at GCA?

Prenstyn's experience has been everything that we could ask for and more. He absolutely loves GCA, the faculty, staff, his friends, and even parents. I love the relationships that are being built between everyone. His growth with Christ and the love he has to speak about Jesus is so impressive, reasoning, having the ability to partake in chapel and continue to learn and grow more in Christ.

What would you share with other parents who are considering Christian education?

As parents, our hearts have always been set on our child attending a school fundamentally rooted in faith-based learning. By having that foundation of a Christian education will help center my child around Christ and will help him or any other child to flourish and grow and have a closer walk with God along with successfully building on upon other subjects. It will also help to mold him into being a better servant of God as he becomes an adult.

Did you have any reservations or concerns when you first considered GCA for your family?  How did God enable your family to adapt or overcome these concerns?

When looking for schools for our then preschooler we prayed for God to answer all our prayers when it came to finances, commutes with buses not being an option, and for work schedules that allowed for us to give the opportunity to send our child to such a wonderful establishment. We fast and prayed for fruition to bear fruit into our lives. Ultimately, some things may be a sacrifice, but with God, we instantly knew he always has our best interest and would place us exactly where we needed to be.
