Tanner White, Class of 2017

"The environment at GCA is so encouraging emotionally and spiritually, and it helped me to grow in my walk with Christ as well."

What was your favorite thing about Grace Christian Academy?

My favorite thing about Grace was the people. Now that I'm in college, I really appreciate that so many teachers and students there really did their best to live their lives to please God. That environment is so encouraging emotionally and spiritually, and it helped me to grow in my walk with Christ as well.

Describe one of your favorite teachers from GCA and how they impacted your life.

One of my favorite teachers from Grace was Dr. Pointer, my senior Bible teacher. He is so knowledgeable and down to earth; In his class, I learned a lot about the Bible, but even more than that, I felt like Dr. Pointer cared about everyone in my class on a personal level. That's what really made him such a great teacher in my book.

Grace Christian Academy seeks to help students develop a Biblical worldview.  How has this mission impacted your personal and professional life?

In my time at Grace, I was presented with biblical truth at every corner. The teaching I received there grew my faith so much. Learning about God's Word for six days a week compared to just one or two helped me to really establish a strong knowledge of scripture and Biblical doctrine. Especially through high school, Grace helped me properly develop my views about a myriad of subjects covered in the Bible, while also encouraging me to constantly think and live my life in a Biblical manner. That is why I believe Grace had such an impact on the development of my worldview and on my daily walk with God.

How did Grace Christian Academy prepare you for life after graduation?

Before graduating from Grace, I believe I was as prepared for college as I could have reasonably been. I had participated in student council, had taken rigorous classes, and had matured spiritually, all through the help of GCA. College is still hard, but I think Grace made that transition a little bit easier by giving me so many opportunities to experience difficult classes, participate in extracurricular activities, and grow my relationship with God.

What would you say to a family considering an education at Grace Christian Academy?

To a family considering an education at GCA, I'd say pray about it. God has a will for everyone, and this decision will change your child's life dramatically over the coming years. I know it changed mine. With that being said, I highly value the exposure that I was given to the teachings and doctrines of the Bible. I believe that they helped shape who I am as a child of God today. I was presented with the reality of God's love for me so much that I had no choice but to understand what the gospel meant. All that was left to me was to choose whether or not to follow Christ. Everyone there was presented with this choice. Granted, some people chose to not follow Christ, but the fact that so many students came to know Christ at least partly because of GCA is a testimony to what Grace could potentially do for any child, through the grace of God.
