Sarah McIntyre, Class of 2018

"What I love about GCA is that the teachers are personal in their relationships with the students and truly care about things going on in our lives."

As a senior at Grace Christian Academy, Sarah McIntyre (GCA Class of 2018) reflected on her GCA experience.  She had a lot to share, especially about the spiritual growth experience that she had while at Sharp Top Cove and through interaction with her teachers and staff.

What do you love about Grace Christian Academy?

What I love about GCA is that the teachers are personal in their relationships with the students and truly care about things going on in our lives.

Describe one of your favorite teachers and what you enjoy about their class.

One of my favorite teachers is Mr. Gouge. I have him this year for yearbook and it's like it's only family, he treats us like his own.

In what ways have you grown in your faith as a result of your experience at GCA?

I've grown in my faith in big ways. I got saved in middle school at Sharp Top Cove. I have enjoyed getting to go on other retreats to learn about God outside of the classroom setting, as well as going to chapel.

The Grace Christian Academy mission is to Lead, Build, and Equip students to become fully devoted disciples of Christ. How have you experienced this?

I feel like GCA has helped equip me for real world faith experiences. This past spring break I went on my first mission trip. I never felt like I was "ready" to go on one. But, being able to speak with other students and teachers one on one about my walk has encouraged me greatly.

How is GCA preparing you for life after graduation and beyond? What are your plans after graduation from high school?

I feel as if I'm more ready for college and real world stuff by teachers encouraging me to be independent and showing that I am capable of figuring out answers on my own. I plan on attending The University of Tennessee - Knoxville and majoring in Kinesiology.
