Elizabeth Flick, Class of 2013

"After graduating from a large public college, I often looked back and realized how special it was that I was surrounded by so many godly people early in my life."

What year did you graduate from GCA?

My first year at grace was my 4th grade year and I graduated in 2013.

What was your favorite thing about Grace Christian Academy?

I had a lot of favorite things about GCA- I’ve always been very thankful that I was able to attend. The first thing that stands out to me is the fact that school was a place that guided my growth in Christ- through weekly chapels, bible classes, and teachers that encourage your walk. The second thing that stood out to me was teachers that care about every aspect of your life, whether it be your education, relationship with Christ, or life in general- any teacher was always there and willing to talk. Lastly, it felt like family- I made some of my absolute best friends and best memories while in school at GCA.

Describe one of your favorite teachers from GCA and how they impacted your life.

Mr. Firebaugh is the sole reason I passed my college calculus course. He is an incredibly smart man who really cares and is a great teacher. He also sends birthday cards to all his students, which always brought a smile to my face.

Grace Christian Academy seeks to help students develop a Biblical worldview. How has this mission impacted your personal and professional life?

GCA gave me a great foundation for adulthood. My friends from high school and I always talk about how thankful we are that Mr. Pointer was part of our high school experience- his Bible class was truly one of the places that I learned the most and helped me to develop what I believe and why I believe it. After graduating from a large public college, I often looked back and realized how special it was that I was surrounded by so many godly people early in my life.

How did Grace Christian Academy prepare you for life after graduation?

GCA prepared me for life after graduation spiritually, academically, and socially. I always felt prepared for my college courses and am thankful my teachers pushed me to be the best I could be. GCA gave me a foundation in my relationship with Christ that allowed me to face life after graduation with truth and confidence in what I believe.

What did you do after graduation and what are you doing professionally?

After graduating from GCA I began a 4-year Nursing program at The University of Tennessee and graduated in 2017. I have been working as a Registered Nurse the past year and a half in both the hospital and office setting. I am currently in school pursuing a Master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
