The GCA Rams have been putting in significant work during the off-season and Varsity Football Head Coach, Justin Long, is excited about the future of the football program!
Coach Justin Long prepares to begin his first season as the GCA Head Varsity Football coach this fall and has spent countless hours this off-season working with his team. Players have been heavily involved in strength and agility training, conditioning, and are in the midst of the two week dead period. While considering his time spent with the team thus far, Coach Long says, "I get excited about how hard the guys have been working. I really hope it pays off for them."
In the weight room, Coach Long says that the team is "focusing on building on the momentum from spring. We want to be stronger & more explosive as a team. On the field, we are continuing to install our Offensive/Defensive systems. So there’s still some learning going on." Practice resumes on Monday, July 12, and the team is ready to get back to work.
As he begins his inaugural season with the Rams, Coach Long emphasizes that his goals go beyond simply the overall record to greater team development. "My biggest focus as Head Coach is continuing to get this group to buy into each other. It’s amazing what can be accomplished when no one cares who gets the credit."
With a challenging season ahead facing some strong opponents, Coach Long says the Rams have their work cut out for them. "We definitely have a tough schedule. We will have to be the toughest, most disciplined team every night."
