GCA Track and Field Team Continues Season at Volunteer Classic

The GCA Track and Field team continued their season at the Volunteer Classic Track Meet held on the University of Tennesse's campus on Saturday, April 16. Each of the Rams set a new personal record in at least one event against outstanding athletes from all over the country.

The GCA track team had a very productive meet at the Volunteer Classic on UT’s campus on Saturday, April 16, 2022. Every participating athlete set new personal records in at least one event each!

8th grader Avery Currier set Personal Records in both the 100 and 400 meter dash. She shaved 4 seconds off of her previous PR in the 400 meter dash running with a time of 1:07.84.

Junior Alyssa Johnson set a new PR in both the 200 meter dash, and the 300 meter hurdles. Her 300 hurdle time of 48.56 put her in position to place 6th overall in that event!

Junior Bri Baker won her heat in the 100 meter hurdles prelims qualifying for the finals, which allowed her to move up and place 4th overall in that event.

Bri also won first place overall in the 300 meter hurdles setting a new PR of 45.56, which allowed her to reclaim the #1 spot in the entire state over all divisions in that event!

Freshman Ben Christopher set a new PR in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.57.

Sophomore Isaac Noe set a new PR in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.51, and also set a new PR in the 200 meter dash with a time of 30.14.

Junior Isaiah Spoon set a new personal record in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:07.68.

Junior Nick Dukes had almost a 9 second personal record in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:13.26.

Our athletes competed against 83 teams with some of the top athletes in the nation. Some teams traveled as far away as Maryland and New York. In true GCA form, our team gave their all and represented our school with excellence. We're so proud of them and their progress this season!
