GCA Supports Haiti Relief Effort

With several personal connections to the country of Haiti in our school family, the GCA community is coming together to support relief efforts by two ministries in this country recently devastated by an earthquake and tropical storm.

One of the Core Values at Grace Christian Academy is “Service”.  As a school, our desire is to instill a love for serving others in our students and to provide regular opportunities for students and their families to be involved in helping others.

Several of our students, their families, and a GCA graduate are intimately connected with the country of Haiti, which was just hit by a severe earthquake and tropical storm.

GCA parents, Drs. Greg and Abby Blackmon, are local pediatricians who work with Harvest Field Ministries and have been serving in Les Anglais, Haiti for many years.  This town was one of the hardest hit areas from the earthquake.  Harvest Field Ministries is coordinating with other ministries to send medical teams and supplies to this community and to Les Cayes, which has received most of the media attention.

SEED International, founded by GCA alumnas, Morgan Parker, is also organizing a 3-4-person team of Haitian and Dominican doctors and nurses to send to Les Cayes to assist in treating the injured.  SEED is receiving donations to help the Blackmons and Harvest Field as well as providing funding for transportation, security and supplies for our medical team which will be deployed by the end of this week.

If you feel led to donate to either SEED or Harvest Field you can use the links below to help support the recovery effort.  100% of the money donated will go to relief efforts and zero dollars to administrative costs.

As of August 25, the SEED Medical Team has set up a clinic site in Les Cayes Haiti.  Hundreds of people have already shown up to receive assistance.

Thank you for being a part of this effort to provide relief to a hurting country!
