GCA Senior, John Pickens, Attains Rank of Eagle Scout

Congratulations to GCA senior, John Pickens!  After 12 years of hard work and dedication, GCA Senior John Pickens has accomplished the rank of Eagle Scout.

During his Blue Ribbon Board of Review, one interviewer, Charles Brinkley, remarked, "I was fortunate enough to hear the answers given by John. He did an excellent job in representing himself, his parents, and Troop 81."  He ended by saying, "John, be proud of what you have earned! You will always be an Eagle Scout!"

John's Eagle Project was to honor six former veterans by writing questions, directing, editing, and making an HonorAir Knoxville Documentary.  HonorAir Knoxville takes WWII, Korean, and Vietnam veterans from East Tennessee to Washington D.C. to visit memorials built in honor of their sacrifice.

This amazing project took months to complete, beginning with the creation of a formal  proposal to Honor Air Knoxville.  Once approved, John purchased video and camera equipment, wrote interview questions, conducted the actual interviews, edited hours of footage, and finally, finished the 30 minute video. The six veterans that John interviewed shared their experiences serving our country and going on the HonorAir Knoxville flight.  You can enjoy seeing John's completed project here:  https://youtu.be/XWVzBBFehIs.

GCA is so proud of your hard work and perseverance in reaching this tremendous goal, John.  We know that God has great things ahead for your future and we're excited to celebrate this milestone with you!
