What have you done since your graduation from GCA?  What are you doing professionally?

After graduating from Grace, I went to Carson-Newman University and got my degree in Business Marketing and Management. Once I had my degree, I started working full time as a Realtor for Trotta Montgomery Real Estate. I just accepted a position as a member for the Board of Directors at James White’s Fort. Additionally, I will soon be assisting in starting a new business in East Tennessee that brings horse drawn carriages to weddings, venues, private events, and historical events.
 

How did you get involved with the James White's Fort organization?

I have always had an interest in East Tennessee history and supporting local businesses. My broker recommended trying to join a local organization as a means to get further involved in the community, as well as continuing to grow my interest and knowledge in local history. I couldn’t think of a better organization to be a part of and support than James White’s Fort.
 

Please share some details about this new appointment. What will you be doing?

In this new role I will be assisting in marketing, fundraising, voting, and planning for various projects and special events related to James White's Fort.
 

Were there teachers at GCA that influenced your interest in history?

I think one of the most influential teachers I had in cultivating my love for history was Ms. Anderson in high school. Her passion for history can only be described as “infectious” - in a good way, of course. She found a way to make a seemingly boring subject for many into a fun and interactive time which was the highlight of many students' days.

I truly feel as though the education I received at Grace put me a step ahead not only in the classroom when transitioning into college, but also in life. I can’t emphasize the importance of building a strong foundation, especially when younger, that ultimately serves as the basis and lens for which all other things in life will be built upon and viewed through.
