The Rams had their final tune-up before the regular season begins.

The Ram Wrestlers competed in the 1st Annual Farragut Pre-Season Jamboree on Saturday.  The Rams went 16-1 on the day with 14 pins;  senior Ben Beaver, senior Will Watson, sophomore Nick Krauss, sophomore Ian Startup and freshman Ryan Comfort went undefeated.

The Ram wrestlers competed in their first pre-season tournament on Saturday.

Ram Wrestlers participated in the KWOA Jamboree at Halls High School this weekend.  Between the six guys who competed, our Rams were 14-4 on the day with each GCA wrestler earning at least one win.  Freshman Ryan Comfort, sophomore Nick Krauss and sophomore Dylan Kimble (wrestling new-comer!) were undefeated on the day.  Senior Ben Beaver, junior Dalton Brown, and freshman Colby Weaver also competed extremely well.

Ram Wrestlers Compete in National Tournament

GCA Ram Wrestlers are continuing to succeed in competition!  Junior Ben Beaver and 8th-grader Ryan Comfort just competed at the 30th Annual National High School Coaches Association in Virginia Beach.

Congratulations to Ram Wrestlers Ben Beaver and Ryan Comfort who competed in the 30th Annual National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) Wrestling Tournament in Virginia Beach Mar 29th-31st.  

Eighth grader Ryan Comfort placed 7th in his weight class for the Middle School Division (32-man bracket).  Although he did not place (his grade/weight class was a 128-man bracket), junior Ben Beaver earned Academic All-American status.

RAM Wrestlers Place at State Tournament

Congratulations to Ram Wrestlers senior Nic Bass, junior Ben Beaver,  Kambell Brown who medaled in the TSSAA Division II Individual Wrestling Tournament!  Ben placed 6th, Nic and Kambell each placed 5th.

Congratulations to medalist Ben Beaver, 6th, Nic Bass, 5th, and Kambell Brown 5th at the State Wrestling Tournament.  Kambell set a new season wins record with his 51st win in his 5th place match.  Nic won his 142nd career match in his 5th place match and Ben finished his Junior year with 160 career wins, second all time in GCA history. 

The team finished in 11th place, 2 points behind the 10th place team.  Coach Ron Comfort remarked, "This has been a great season.  The team was a joy to coach and the future looks bright with the young guys coming up next season."  The team moves on to AAU regions next Saturday and the AAU State tournament the following week.  Training will begin in a couple of weeks for the NHSCA Nationals at Virginia Beach in late March.

Ram Wrestlers Qualify for State Tournament

GCA is pleased to announce that four wrestlers from the GCA team have qualified to compete in the State Tournament on Feb. 15-16 in Franklin, Tennessee.

Congratulations to these Ram Wrestlers who placed at the Division II East/Middle Region Tournament on Saturday, Feb, 9: senior Nic Bass (3rd place, 170 lbs), junior Ben Beaver (4th place, 120 lbs), junior Kambell Brown (3rd place, 182 lbs), and senior Parker Glessner (4th place, 195 lbs). 

These Rams will compete in the TSSAA State Division II Individual Tournament on Friday and Saturday, February 15-16 in Franklin.  Go, Rams!

The GCA Wrestling team has dedicated space for practice in the Coffey Fieldhouse Weight Room.  Wrestling matches are held at home in the GCA Upper School Gymnasium or away at area schools.
