The Lady Rams volleyball team sees their season come to an end in first round of state tournament.
On Thursday, October 8, Grace Christian lost in the East Region Semifinal vs Kings Academy 0-3 (8-25, 19-25, 22-25). Key individual performers for GCA were:
- Ali Morris – 16 kills, 13 digs, 7 assists, 2 aces, 1 block
- Bailey Fersner – 13 assists, 8 kills, 3 aces
- Sydney Thompson – 12 digs
On Saturday, October 10, Grace fell to Concord Christian in the Region Consolation game coming out of the region as a #4 seed.
On Tuesday, October 13, the Lady Rams traveled to Franklin to meet the University School of Jackson for the first round of the state tournament. The Lady Rams fought hard to come back after being down 2-0, but fell to USJ 2-3 (27-25, 25-18, 17-25, 13-25, 15-11).

The Lady Rams finished the district tournament in 3rd place.
Congratulations to senior Bailey Fersner and junior Ali Morris who were named 1st Team All-District. Morris was also named District Co-Hitter of the Year. In addition, senior Laiken White and sophomore Sydney Thompson were named 2nd Team All-District. Congratulations, girls!
On Friday, Grace Christian fell 2-3 (26-24, 20-25, 25-18, 16-25, 8-15) to Concord Christian in the semifinal round of the district tournament. Key individual performers for Grace were:
- Ali Morris – 12 kills, 6 digs, 10 assists, 2 aces, 2 blocks
- Bailey Fersner – 13 assists, 13 kills, 9 digs, 2 aces
- Sydney Thompson – 12 digs, 6 assists, 1 ace
On Saturday, the Lady Rams played in the consolation game of the championship finals finishing 3rd place in the TSSAA DII, Class A, District 1 tournament. They won over Christian Academy of Knoxville 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-23). Key performers for GCA were:
- Ali Morris – 18 kills, 11 digs, 7 assists, 2 aces
- Bailey Fersner – 13 assists, 8 kills, 10 digs, 4 aces
- Sydney Thompson – 16 digs
Grace Christian Academy 12-7 (4-2) begins East Region tournament play on Tuesday as they travel to Silverdale Baptist Academy in Chattanooga for a 6:00PM match.

The Lady Rams opened District Tournament play Thursday night.
Grace Christian won the first round of of the DII, Class A, District 1 tournament over Berean Christian 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-7). Key individual performers for GCA were:
- Ali Morris – 17 kills, 3 digs, 10 assists
- Bailey Fersner – 16 assists, 6 kills
- Marli Watkins – 4 aces, 6 kills
- Sydney Thompson – 7 digs
Grace Christian Academy is now 11-6 (4-2). They will play at Concord Christian School tonight at 6:00 as tournament play continues.
- Varsity Volleyball
The volleyball team traveled to Lakeway Christian Academy on Tuesday for their final regular season match of the year.
Grace Christian won a district match over Lakeway Christian Academy 3-1 (25-9, 21-25, 25-18, 25-14). Key performers for Grace were:
Alli Morris – 23 kills, 9 digs, 7 assists, 3 blocks, 1 ace
Bailey Fersner – 21 assists, 8 kills, 6 aces, 5 digs
Sydney Thompson – 12 digs, 2 assists
Grace Christian Academy finishes the regular season 10-6 (4-2) and will play host to Berean Christian Academy on Thursday at 6:00 in the opening round of the district tournament.
- Varsity Volleyball
The volleyball team had a busy week as they have played five matches since Thursday.
The volleyball team defeated district opponent Christian Academy of Knoxville 3-1 (25-17, 16-25, 25-18, 27-25) last Thursday. Prior to the game, seniors Bailey Fersner and Laiken White were honored. Key individual performers for Grace were Ali Morris with 23 kills, 10 assists, 15 digs, 3 aces and 2 blocks. Bailey Fersner recorded 19 assists, 10 kills, 4 digs, and 2 aces. Laiken White had 3 kills, 2 digs, 2 blocks, and 1 ace while Sydney Thompson had 13 digs, 1 ace, and 2 assists.
The team competed against some stiff competition in the Courtside Tournament at Concord Christian School on Saturday. In the first match, GCA fell 2- 0 (25-16, 25-10) to eventual champion TL Hanna out of Anderson, SC. In their second match, the Lady Rams defeated Knoxville West 2-0 (25-19, 28-26). Their final match of the day saw them fall 2-0 (25-17, 25-23) to Hardin Valley Academy who also ended up in the championship game.
Monday night saw GCA return to district play as they hosted Berean Christian and picked up a 3-0 (25-3, 25-15, 25-5) victory. Key individual performers were Ali Morris with 13 kills, 8 assists, and 4 aces while Bailey Fersner recorded 16 assists, 7 kills, and 2 aces.
Grace Christian Academy is now 9-6 (3-2) and will play their last regular season game today at Lakeway Christian Academy. District tournament play begins on Thursday.
- Varsity Volleyball
The Lady Rams volleyball team returned to district play on Tuesday.
Grace Christian lost a district match 0-3 (20-25, 15-25, 22-25) at Concord Christian. Offensive leaders for the Lady Rams were Ali Morris with 10 kills, 7 assists, 3 aces and Bailey Fersner with 11 assists, 6 kills, 1 ace. Morris also recorded 2 blocks on the night.
The Lady Rams are now 6-4 (1-2 district) and play host to CAK on Thursday when they will honor seniors Bailey Fersner and Laiken White.
- Varsity Volleyball
The volleyball team traveled to Cosby on Thursday for a non-district match.
Grace Christian won a non-district match at Cosby last Thursday 3-0 (25-12, 25-10, 27-13). Key individual performers in this match were Ali Morris with12 kills, 2 aces, and 1 block, Bailey Fersner with 6 assists and 2 aces, and Taylor Rose with 4 aces.
Grace is now 6-3 (1-1).
- Varsity Volleyball
The Rams played host to York Institute on Friday night as seniors from all fall sports at GCA were honored.
The Rams defeated York Institute 35-0 on Friday night to move to 4-0 on the season. The Rams had 4 passing touchdowns (Cooper Riggs to Michael Human, Pierce Browning, Grant Warwick and Jared Long) and one rushing touchdown by Caleb Curcio. Art Knight connected on all 5 extra points.
Cooper Riggs was 18-31 for 257 yards. Pierce Browning led the receivers with 8 catches for 134 yards. Caleb Curcio led rushing with 12 rushes for 69 yards.
The defense was led by Johnny Eller who recorded 17 tackles and caused one fumble.
Friday was a special night on campus as all our fall senior athletes were honored at the game. We are so thankful for the seasons these athletes and their teams have had so far!

The volleyball team stayed on campus Friday night for a game against Bearden.
Grace Christian won a non-district match vs. Bearden: 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 27-25). Key performers for GCA were: Ali Morris – 12 kills,12 assists, 11 digs, 6 aces, and 1 block; Bailey Fersner – 9 assists, 4 kills, 8 digs, and 2 aces; and Laiken White – 2 aces, 3 kills, 6 digs, and 3 blocks.
Grace Christian Academy is 5-3 (1-1). GCA returns to action on Tuesday at Lakeway Christian Academy in White Pine.

The Lady Rams traveled to The King's Academy on Thursday for a district match.
Varsity volleyball fell to district opponent The King's Academy in a 4 set battle 1-3 (18-25, 25-19, 24-26, 20-25). Key performers for the Lady Rams were Ali Morris with 20 kills,13 assists,14 digs,1 ace, and 3 blocks. Bailey Fersner had 19 assists, 15 kills, 7 digs, 3 aces, and 1 block. Defensively, GCA was led by Sydney Thompson with 17 digs.
Grace Christian Academy is now 4-3 (1-1).
