TEAM NEWS
After a win in the first round of the state tournament against Providence Christian Academy, the GCA Varsity Volleyball advanced to the state quarterfinals where their season ended against Northpoint Christian.
The team finished with a remarkable season behind them with a number of notable accomplishments, including:
- Regular Season District Champions
- District Tournament Runner-ups
- Made Region Tournament Appearance
- Won in First Round of State
- Finished in "Elite 8" in the State

- Varsity Volleyball
The Lady Rams volleyball team has ended the regular season with a 16-11 overall record, but are undefeated in the district play headed into the district tournament.
Sept. 27 - GCA falls to Catholic 0-3 (17-25, 17-25, 19-25). The Lady Rams were led by Ali Morris with 14 kills, 11 digs, and 2 blocks. Taylor Rose added 5 kills and 2 blocks.
Sept. 23 - GCA falls to Webb 2-3 (17-25, 17-25, 26-24, 25-23, 11-15). Key performers were Ali Morris with 27 kills and 20 digs; Taylor Rose with 10 kills and 2 aces; Hannah Lewis with 12 assists; and Sydney Thompson with 33 digs.
Sept. 21 - GCA defeats Concord Christian 3-0 (25-23, 26-24, 25-20). Statistical leaders for the Lady Rams were Ali Morris with 17 kills and 21 digs; Marli Watkins with 9 kills and 9 digs; Hannah Lewis with 17 assists; and Sydney Thompson with 19 digs.

Congratulations to GCA senior and Varsity Volleyball player, Ali Morris! She earned her 1,000th career "kill" in the game against Knoxville Christian School on September 16. This is a significant career accomplishment and evidence of her hard work and dedication!

Friday, Sept 17: Grace Christian defeats Kings Academy 3-0 (25-8, 25-6, 25-10). Key performers were Ali Morris with 12 kills, Marli Watkins with 8 kills and 10 aces, Hannah Lewis with 16 assists, and Taylor Rose with 7 kills.
Thursday, Sept 16: Grace Christian defeats Knoxville Christian 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-9). Key individual performers on the night were Ali Morris with 14 kills, Marli Watkins with 10 kills, and Hannah Lewis with 16 assists.
The Lady Rams are now 15-9 (4-0 district). They resume play on Tuesday as Concord Christian comes for a big district match.

Grace Christian Academy volleyball defeated Lakeway Christian 3-0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-4) in a district match on Thursday. Statistical leaders for the Lady Rams were Ali Morris with 23 kills, 9 digs, and 3 blocks; Anna Ballard with 11 assists; Hannah Lewis with 10 assists; and Sydney Thompson with 10 digs and 20 service points.
The Lady Rams are now 9-7 (2-0 district).
- Varsity Volleyball
The Lady Rams fell short in four games against Bearden on Tuesday.
The volleyball team was hoping for another big win over Bearden after winning a 5 game thriller last week. They battled to win the third set (25-20) after being down two games (17-25, 19-25) but Bearden took the fourth set (15-25) to win the match.
Key individual performers for GCA were Ali Morris with 26 kills, 10 digs, and 4 aces; Hannah Lewis with 19 assists; and Sydney Thompson with 14 digs.
Grace, with a current record of 8-7, returns to action tonight on their home court against Lakeway Christian Academy.
- Varsity Volleyball
Lady Rams volleyball had a break in their matches due to Senior Summit. However, they picked up a win both before and after the break.
September 3: Grace Christian defeats West High: 3-2 (36-34, 22-25, 20-25, 25-23, 15-11). Key performers for GCA included Ali Morris with 34 kills, 17 digs, 4 aces, and 3 blocks; Marli Watkins with 9 kills and 2 blocks; Hannah Lewis with 22 assists; Anna Ballard with 15 assists; and Sydney Thompson with 22 digs.
August 26: Grace Christian defeats Berean Christian in district match: 3-1 (24-26, 25-17, 25-12, 25-7). Key performers for the Lady Rams included Ali Morris with 20 kills, 8 digs and 6 aces; Marli Watkins with 11 kills and 5 aces; Anna Ballard with 15 assists; Hannah Lewis with 14 assists; and Sydney Thompson with 23 digs.
The Lady Rams are now 8-6 (1-0) on the season and travel to Bearden for another non-district match this evening.

The volleyball team hit the ground running and have already played 12 matches in the first two weeks of their season.
The Lady Rams are 6-6 less than two weeks into the 2021 volleyball season. Results from their first games are as follows:
Tues, August 24: Grace Christian fell to Catholic: 0-2 (24-26, 15-25). Leaders for the Lady Rams were Ali Morris with 6 kills and 12 digs and Hannah Lewis with 8 assists.
Mon, August 23: Grace Christian defeated Central: 2-0 (25-15, 25-21) & defeated Gibbs: 2-1 (25-21, 23-25, 25-14). GCA leaders were Ali Morris with 22 kills, 7 digs and 4 aces; Hannah Lewis with 4 aces and 17 assists; Marli Watkins with 5 aces and 14 kills; Anna Ballard with 3 aces and 17 assists; and Sydney Thompson with 2 aces and 20 digs.
Sat, August 21 - MTCS Cougar Classic: GCA beat Creekwood (25-19, 16-25, 15-11) and University School of Jackson (25-17, 25-18) but fell to Providence Christian (18-25, 17-25), tournament champion and 2-time defending state champion Summertown (22-25, 21-25), and Lipscomb (23-25, 21-25).
Thur, August 19: Grace Christian lost to Anderson County High School (20-25, 13-25) and lost to Jefferson County High School (19-25, 21-25)
Tues, August 17: Grace Christian defeated Seymour: 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-19). Key performers for the Lady Rams were Ali Morris with 21 kills and 11 digs, Hannah Lewis with 22 assists, and Marli Watkins with 9 kills.
Mon, August 16: Grace Christian defeated Halls: 3-0 (25-12, 21-12, 25-8), Leaders on opening night for GCA were Ali Morris with 19 kills (.731 hitting percentage), 3 aces, 1 block, and 3 digs; Anna Ballard with 11 assists and 2 aces; Hannah Lewis with 8 assists, and Taylor Rose with 6 aces.

The Lady Rams volleyball team sees their season come to an end in first round of state tournament.
On Thursday, October 8, Grace Christian lost in the East Region Semifinal vs Kings Academy 0-3 (8-25, 19-25, 22-25). Key individual performers for GCA were:
- Ali Morris – 16 kills, 13 digs, 7 assists, 2 aces, 1 block
- Bailey Fersner – 13 assists, 8 kills, 3 aces
- Sydney Thompson – 12 digs
On Saturday, October 10, Grace fell to Concord Christian in the Region Consolation game coming out of the region as a #4 seed.
On Tuesday, October 13, the Lady Rams traveled to Franklin to meet the University School of Jackson for the first round of the state tournament. The Lady Rams fought hard to come back after being down 2-0, but fell to USJ 2-3 (27-25, 25-18, 17-25, 13-25, 15-11).

The Lady Rams finished the district tournament in 3rd place.
Congratulations to senior Bailey Fersner and junior Ali Morris who were named 1st Team All-District. Morris was also named District Co-Hitter of the Year. In addition, senior Laiken White and sophomore Sydney Thompson were named 2nd Team All-District. Congratulations, girls!
On Friday, Grace Christian fell 2-3 (26-24, 20-25, 25-18, 16-25, 8-15) to Concord Christian in the semifinal round of the district tournament. Key individual performers for Grace were:
- Ali Morris – 12 kills, 6 digs, 10 assists, 2 aces, 2 blocks
- Bailey Fersner – 13 assists, 13 kills, 9 digs, 2 aces
- Sydney Thompson – 12 digs, 6 assists, 1 ace
On Saturday, the Lady Rams played in the consolation game of the championship finals finishing 3rd place in the TSSAA DII, Class A, District 1 tournament. They won over Christian Academy of Knoxville 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-23). Key performers for GCA were:
- Ali Morris – 18 kills, 11 digs, 7 assists, 2 aces
- Bailey Fersner – 13 assists, 8 kills, 10 digs, 4 aces
- Sydney Thompson – 16 digs
Grace Christian Academy 12-7 (4-2) begins East Region tournament play on Tuesday as they travel to Silverdale Baptist Academy in Chattanooga for a 6:00PM match.

The Lady Rams opened District Tournament play Thursday night.
Grace Christian won the first round of of the DII, Class A, District 1 tournament over Berean Christian 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-7). Key individual performers for GCA were:
- Ali Morris – 17 kills, 3 digs, 10 assists
- Bailey Fersner – 16 assists, 6 kills
- Marli Watkins – 4 aces, 6 kills
- Sydney Thompson – 7 digs
Grace Christian Academy is now 11-6 (4-2). They will play at Concord Christian School tonight at 6:00 as tournament play continues.

The volleyball team traveled to Lakeway Christian Academy on Tuesday for their final regular season match of the year.
Grace Christian won a district match over Lakeway Christian Academy 3-1 (25-9, 21-25, 25-18, 25-14). Key performers for Grace were:
Alli Morris – 23 kills, 9 digs, 7 assists, 3 blocks, 1 ace
Bailey Fersner – 21 assists, 8 kills, 6 aces, 5 digs

Grace Christian Academy finishes the regular season 10-6 (4-2) and will play host to Berean Christian Academy on Thursday at 6:00 in the opening round of the district tournament.

The middle school volleyball team had a slow start to their season, but they now have two teams playing in the Knoxville Open league.
On Thursday, the Varsity opened started the night with a loss to Hardin Valley, falling 23-25, 19-15. However, they were able to regroup and finish the night with a win against Knoxville Christian 25-18, 25-19.
- MS Volleyball
The GCA MS Varsity Volleyball team was so excited to finally hit the court as they opened their season against Gibbs and Karns. The team lost to Gibbs but finished the evening with a win against Karns.
The team is now 1-1 and working hard to prepare for their next match!

Two middle school players were recently named to All-League teams.
Congratulations to 7th grader Caroline Mabe and 8th grader Hannah Noe on being named to the Knoxville Open Middle School All-League teams. Caroline was named 1st Team and Hannah was named 2nd Team.

GCA hosted the Episcopal School of Knoxville on Monday.
The middle school volleyball team defeated ESK 2-0 on Monday evening.

Congratulations to the GCA MS Volleyball Team, who competed in the Third Annual Middle School Tournament Volleyball Face Off at Club Unite and won the championship.
The GCA Middle School Volleyball team played in the third annual Middle School Tournament Volleyball Face Off at Club Unite on Saturday, September 14th.
They won all of their games, proceeded to the Gold round, and played Bearden Middle school in the finals. After a long day of competition, the Lady Rams fought hard and defeated Bearden Middle School to win the Championship!
