Get to Know Athletic Director, Mr. Shawn Mehegan

Ram Community,

What an amazing opportunity we have at Grace Christian Academy to partner with families to LEAD, BUILD, and EQUIP the next generation of leaders for Christ.  The Lord has used sports to mold and shape me into the person that I am today, and coaches to encourage and mentor me as I competed at all levels.  As coaches we have the privilege to invest in the lives of students and help them to increase their fitness, improve their skill, and develop important life skills.  More importantly, we have the opportunity to use the experiences of our sport to help mold and shape their character and use God’s Word to help them navigate life. Some of the most memorable times in my coaching career centered around celebrating what Jesus has done in the lives of students and families.  Whether it was seeing a teenager give their life to Christ at team camp or a pre-game devotion, watching a teammate pray with another, or sending a player on their first sports mission trip overseas and seeing life transformation, it was PRICELESS!

The goal of athletics at GCA is for our students to train and compete to become champions for Christ both on and off the field.  Our coaches desire to use athletics as an opportunity to minister to students and develop Christ-like character.  At the middle school level the chief emphasis is for athletes to develop skill, fitness, and experience game competition.  At the Varsity level our coaches plan and prepare to compete at the highest levels while developing each player individually to meet their goals.  While we strive to compete and win, we know that victory is just “icing on the cake” and that through both the wins and losses the coaches and athletes learn many life lessons.  As our Ram athletes strive to compete and achieve we hope that both players, coaches, and parents will glorify Christ in all that we do!!  It is my humble pleasure to serve this year as Athletic Director.  If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me at any time!
