Vocal Arts

Students in Elementary School (K-4) are involved in music class once a week for 45 minutes. As they learn fundamentals of music theory, they also experience the performing arts through an annual Christmas production. There are also occasional opportunities for Elementary School students to audition for K-12 musical productions, which offer more in-depth rehearsal and performance experience. 

GCA Middle School students may choose Choir as an elective course and will be enrolled for two consecutive quarters. In Middle School Choir, students can grow in their vocal and performance skills and enjoy performance opportunities. The group also has the chance to participate in vocal competitions during their class experience. Middle school students who have an interest in developing their skills in worship ministry through vocal, instrumental, and media training may choose to participate in the Worship Arts program. This group leads worship and supports production for our Middle School chapels throughout the school year. The class provides a rich experience for students to grow in spiritual leadership as well as musical techniques.

Students in the GCA High School can audition for a select choral ensemble. The Ensemble meets during zero period each morning beginning at 7:10 am.  The Ensemble is considered a Mixed Choir,  Ensemble students are also performers for Women Singers and Men's Choir. Our "three in one" course allows students the unique opportunity to learn and perform music written for mixed voicing, treble voicing, and bass voicing. The group has various performance opportunities throughout the year on and off campus: Christmas performances, Veterans Day, chapels, local churches, graduation, choir tours, and athletic events.

The Ensemble embarks on a Choir Tour each year and has traveled to California, Colorado, New York, Virginia, Florida, and Texas.  While on tour, the Ensemble competes in National Choral Competitions and has received Superior Ratings and First place finishes for several years. While on tour the group also performs at various venues and churches. The year culminates with GCA's  Annual Celebration of the Arts which includes the Ensemble's final Home Concert and senior night.  

GCA offers high school students opportunities to pursue their calling to full-time ministry or training to support the ministry of the local church as volunteers. High School students may choose to receive training in their instrument of choice, vocals, media production, devotional leadership, and public speaking through our Worship Arts classes. High School Worship Arts students assist in planning, supporting, and leading weekly chapels. The group also has the opportunity to lead at "all school" events and in local area churches. GCA Worship Arts Alumni have ministered on staff and as volunteers in churches around Tennessee and in several states including Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and Illinois. At GCA all students are taught worship is an expression of gratitude to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As worship leaders we are not charged with trying to get people to worship, we are charged to try to help them see Jesus.
