Every student from Kindergarten through 5th grade has the opportunity to attend art one day a week for 45 minutes. During art students are taught the elements of design such as line, shape, color, form, value, space and texture by creating various projects. These projects are completed using several different processes such as drawing, painting, pottery, printmaking, and sculpture. In the spring, each student has a piece of art work displayed during our Night of the Arts that represents one of their best works from the year. For more information about the art program at GCA, please contact Teresa McNelly.
Band is not provided at this level. However, private music instruction is available for students interested in a fast track to audition for intermediate band a year early. Contact our Director of Bands, Mr. Joe Perrock, for further information.
Grace Christian Academy reached new academic heights through its first Broadway Junior Production, Annie Junior. The GCA lower school students' list of performances has grown to include The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, Music Man Junior, School House Rock, and Little Mermaid Junior. These productions have allowed our students the opportunity to participate in a first class musical experience with a strong dramatic emphasis.
In addition, 4th and 5th graders have a the opportunity to try out for Honors Choir. This program provides a more in-depth understanding of music, including multiple performances a year, such as singing the National Anthem at home games and a UT basketball game. For more information, please contact Mrs. Tracy Rodgers.
What a great night of family entertainment! Every year in late October, we turn our chapel stage into a place where students can show their dramatic skills in the Annual Fall Storytelling Competition. The competition consisted of third-fifth grade students. The students were trained under the direction of Mrs. Tonya Wilson.
