Lauryn Baker, GCA Senior, graduated from the National Student Leadership University this summer after taking her third and final course in London, Oxford, and Normandy.

In 2018 Lauryn began the Student Leadership University program, which provides young believers the opportunity to develop their leadership through events, speakers, career opportunities, and teaching.

For the first course, Lauryn traveled to Orlando, and in 2019, to Washington, D.C., for the 201 course.  Her final 301 program was planned for 2020 but was postponed until this past summer.

“I was so excited to attend the 301 program finally; we visited many historical landmarks, including Winston Churchill’s War Room, Buckingham Palace, Omaha Beach, and C.S. Lewis’ home church.”

Along with visiting many historical places, Lauryn heard from incredible speakers like Dr. John Lennox, an Oxford professor who has been an advisor to the Queen and met Winston Churchill.

“Dr. Lennox spoke about how the world is seeking immortality, but there is only one way to eternity.  He said, ‘Man is seeking God status, but the only one with God status became man.’” Lauryn shared. “We were sitting in C.S. Lewis’ church, and I was so inspired by every word he said.”

“The SLU program has made a huge impact in my life. It has taught me the value of serving others and striving to be like the Ultimate Servant.  Their motto is ‘Leadership begins at the feet of Jesus,’” Lauryn said. “I encourage all GCA students to attend.”
